SMY is proud to offer our first Teacher Training with Certified Anusara Teacher Christy Burnette and Certified Anusara Teacher Emma Magenta. Teaching yoga has brought us a lifetime of joy and insight, and we cherish the opportunity to share what we have learned from our teachers and students. Teacher Training is for students dedicated to the study and practice of Anusara Yoga, who wish to share the love of the practice. Every participant will be supported and mentored each step of the way in becoming a highly-skilled Ansuara Yoga Teacher. This 100-hour Training emphasizes fundamental teaching skills and refines the central teaching elements necessary for teaching dynamic, inspiring and effective public classes.

Asana Review: the Anusara Syllabus 1 & 2
Physical & Energetic Anatomy in Action
How to Teach Anusara's Universal Principles of Alignment
How to Integrate Anusara's Tantric Philosophy
Art of Sequencing
Authentic Creativity: creating and implementing heart-based themes
Special Populations: creative solutions for pregnancy, differently-abled students, illness
Art of Adjusting: in public classes & private sessions
Basic Yoga Therapeutics: techniques and practices
Integrating Pranayama, Meditation, and Relaxation: teaching a well-rounded class

Those who register for the full 9-weekend program will recieve the SMY Teacher Training Manual, to be used in conjunction with the Anusara Yoga TT Manual. This unique manual is an asset to your future teaching and supplements the existing Anusara curriculum. Available for purchase at the studio for those doing individual weekends for $28.
Pre-requisites
The Anusara Yoga curriculum offers several types of trainings for advanced students and teachers. Anusara Yoga Teacher Trainings are specifically designed to instruct trainees on how to teach Anusara Yoga. Before entering an Anusara Yoga teacher training, trainees should have a strong working knowledge of the Universal Principles of Alignment. Trainees should take Anusara Yoga courses and Immersions to gain detailed knowledge of the Anusara principles of philosophy and alignment before applying for teacher training. There is a minimum prerequisite of 100 hours of Anusara Yoga studies before applying for teacher training.
Completion of 72 hours of an Immersion Program with Certified Anusara Yoga Teacher(s).
36 hours of Intermediate Level Anusara Yoga classes.
Must have read and studied John Friend's Anusara Yoga Teacher Training Manual.
Minimum regular yoga practice of 1 hour, 3 times per week, for 1 year.
Participation in 2 or more public Anusara classes per week for the duration of the program.
Program completion requires attendance at eight of the nine weekends
Desire to share the love of the practice with students.
Desire to abide by Anusara YogaÕs Ethics & Standards.
Acceptance into the program is based upon approval of your application.
About Christy & Emma Christy Burnette is a Senior Certified Anusara Teacher and is Director of Arizona Yoga in Scottsdale, AZ. She has been a student of yoga for almost 2 decades, and has trained with John Friend since 1991. Her long experience gives her an unusually rich, detailed palette of teachings. Among the first to be Certified in Anusara, Christy is one of the most beloved teachers from the thriving yoga community in the Western U.S. She is an inspired interpreter of Anusara's language of the heart, and clearly illuminates the complexities of the Universal Principles of Alignment. Christy is also known for her rigorous, compassionate mentoring of other yoga teachers and her uncanny instincts as a yoga therapist.
Emma Magenta is a Certified Anusara Teacher and Director of SMY. She grew up on a farm in the Flint Hills of Kansas, and took her first yoga class in New York City in 1995. Emma received her initial teaching certificate in 2001 from Anusara Teacher Trainer Amy Ippoliti, and has since spent hundreds of training hours with Anusara founder John Friend. In her eight years of teaching in northern New Jersey, Emma has taught and mentored many students on the path to becoming Anusara Yoga teachers. She is "the one who got me into yoga" for countless NJ yogis. Emma has studied Rajanaka Tantra with Dr. Douglas Brooks, Biological Medicine with Dr. Thomas Rau, and acupuncture with Kiiko Matsumoto.
